WADENA, Minn. (AP) — A Wadena man has been charged with five felony counts for allegedly threatening to blow up several buildings after losing Medicare benefits.

Wadena Police Chief Bruce Uselman tells KSAX-TV 39-year-old Mark Moe said Jared Loughner, the man charged with shooting Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, was his hero.

The police chief says Moe allegedly told relatives he was going to turn small gas tanks in his brother's garage into bombs. He allegedly said he would use them to burn down Wadena's courthouse, Social Security office and several churches. He says Moe also threatened to ignite the gas line on Main Street to start a major fire.

Police arrested Moe Jan. 13. He's charged with making terroristic threats.

Moe remains jailed. His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.
