The North Dakota Department of Transportation issued a travel alert for north central North Dakota at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, to last through Monday morning, expanding the alert issued at 8:30 a.m. for the western part of the state even as it lifted a no-travel advisory for the region.

The travel alert means motorists can travel, but should know that scattered snow drifts and areas of compacted snow and ice may make travel difficult and even dangerous, so they should drive at reduced speeds, according to the DOT. The cities affected by the travel alert in the north central part of the state include Minot, Garrison, Parshall, Kenmare, Mohall, Bottineau, Rolla, Cando, Langdon, Towner, Velva, Harvey and surrounding areas.
