More fireworks may be lighting up the skies of Minnesota this Fourth of July. The senate voted 48 to 17 in favor of legalizing more powerful aerial fireworks and devices. It's now in the hands of Governor Dayton.
Supporters says Minnesota consumers are buying illegal fireworks in neighboring states anyway, but firefighters are concerned about safety.
Greg Doeden – Moorhead Assistant Fire Chief: “We have responded over the years to some accidents on some people, injuries to the hands, injuries to the face and eyes and obviously now if it would become legal. The chances of that becoming more common could certainly take place.”
Governor Dayton says he's undecided on if he'll sign the bill.
