Soaring ND Oil Production to Get Another BoostState officials say North Dakota's oil production could jump another 50 percent next year.
State officials say North Dakota's oil production could jump another 50 percent next year.
They say it will get a boost from transportation projects that will help get the oil to market.
Lynn Helms is the state's mineral resources director. He says that if oil prices stay above $60 a barrel and the transportation improves, the state could be producing 400,000 barrels of oil daily within five years.
North Dakota's current production now tops 230,000 barrels a day. That ranks the state behind only Texas, Alaska and California.
The Enbridge and Kinder Morgan Energy Partners pipepline companies are planning expansions that Helms says will increase the state's production.
