Grand Forks Representatives Hear Your Thoughts

Area residents had a second chance to discuss the 2011 legislature with their local representatives at a legislative forum Saturday.

Area residents had a second chance to discuss the 2011 legislature with their local representatives at a legislative forum Saturday.

One of the concerns presented was making sure financial aid is available for low income students.

UND officials are hoping for more support in the completion-based funding model for higher education in the Governor Dalrymple's budget.

Advisers are afraid that there won't be enough aid, resulting in lower graduation rates.

"Especially getting more low income students into our universities and making sure that there is retention, graduation and there is placement in the workforce," said district 42 Representative Corey Mock.

Area residents are also trying to keep funding for anti-smoking programs and campaigns.
