A judge has given prosecutors more time to decide if they will seek the death penalty against Amanda Kaur. The 27-year-old Hillsboro, ND, native has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

A judge has given prosecutors more time to decide if they will seek the death penalty against Amanda Kaur.

The 27-year-old Hillsboro, ND, native has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of her husband in South Dakota.

Prosecutors say a judge gave them a 30-day extension on the death penalty decision.

Authorities allege she shot her husband Ira in the head and left her home with her two children. Kaur then returned to the house and shot him a second time several hours later.

Authorities also say Kaur tried to make the murder scene look like a suicide.

Ira Kaur was a sergeant at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City.

He was also stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base earlier. Her next court date is march 15th.
