Warwick Public School is adding an extra curricular activity it hasn't had for 18 years.
When Charlotte Franks Erickson became a teacher at Warwick Public School, it was a requirement by the superintendent that she start a speech team.
And four years later, the team is finally coming together.
12 students, mainly sixth, seventh and eighth graders are participating in the program.
They've received their speech scripts and have even performed for the school board to let them know how serious they are about competing at speech meets.
Superintendent Charles Guthrie is hoping this activity is something that will better his students.
"They gain that experience, they gain that self confidence in themselves through a regular speech program," Guthrie said.
