State Park Near Devils Lake May Not Open This Season

Because of flooding, a State Park near Devils Lake is not going to start taking reservations as soon as other parks in North Dakota.

Because of flooding, a State Park near Devils Lake is not going to start taking reservations as soon as other parks in North Dakota.

Grahams Island State Park near Devils Lake won't even begin taking reservations for camping until May 1, because they're not sure if they'll be able to open.

With the latest flood forecast, the road to Grahams Island is expected to be affected by the waters of Devils Lake.

And although the road to the park may not be closed, Park Manager Henry Duray says they could choose to close the park because the safety of guests on the island may be questionable.

"If it looks marginal or the road is not going to be accessible in a good way, we could and might close the park," says Duray

The talk of raising the road comes without question, but Duray is waiting on some money until plans can be finalized.
