GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Former University of North Dakota quarterback Danny Freund has joined the Fighting Sioux coaching staff.

Head coach Chris Mussman says Freund will work with the offensive coaching staff, and his specific position responsibility will be determined when all of the openings on the UND staff are filled.

Freund was a Sioux quarterback from 2005-08, going 16-6 in two years as a starter. He finished his career as the school's most accurate passer, with a 68.9 percent completion rate. He also owns the top single-season completion mark of 71.9 percent.

The Kenosha, Wis., native was the quarterbacks coach at Carthage College in Wisconsin last season.
