27 of 36 Dogs Rescued In Roseau County Have Been Adopted

Most of the dogs rescued from a Roseau County home have been adopted. Volunteers have been helping out at the Humane Society as well, cleaning and caring for the remaining dogs.

Out of 36 dogs rescued from a Roseau County home recently, 27 have been adopted.

All of the dogs were taken to the Pennington County Humane society in Thief River Falls and were put up for adoption.

The dogs had matted fur and were living in feces in a heated garage area.

All are being taken care of by volunteers in the community.

"As soon as the community heard, we had ump-teen million volunteers come out here and help shave them, bathe them. There's volunteers who come out in the morning and at night and (the dogs') kennels are always cleaned. They come out and just spend time with the dogs and give them some TLC," Pennington County Humane Society volunteer Jody Haugen said.

The Roseau County Sheriff's Department says the matter is still under investigation; no formal charges have been filed yet against the owner of the dogs.
