Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Town Square Farmers Market in Grand Forks has been thriving for years, but this year is bigger than ever. It's well on it's way to breaking vendor records.
It's the third week of the Grand Forks Farmers Market, packed with endless sights, sounds, and tastes. More vendors than ever are selling their homemade or home-grown items. And with more setting up stands every week, this season will likely shatter records.
Sarah Sand/ Vendor/ The Coffee Company: "It's busier. I'm seeing more faces and a lot more vendors, a lot more people out selling, so I think it's growing and growing every year."
Sarah Sand, who has been coming to the Farmers Market for years, says shoppers want to do more than get fresh, affordable produce.
Sand: "Keep your money local. That's huge for the small community of Grand Forks."
Suzie Benjamin/ Shopper: "Just support our local economy Shoppers are showing support by purchasing anything from jewelry to dog leashes to fresh honey, and they keep coming back for more."
Mark Melby/ Vendor/ Melby Honey: "Every Saturday I see the same people I've seen the past 3 years."
For Mark Melby, who makes his own honey from Fertile, MN, the return customers are just one perk to this year's huge turnout
Melby: "This year is so much better than even last year."
Madison Berney/Shopper: "It's fun to come see all the stuff that's for sale... and the burgers are good."
The event runs every Saturday through September 26, rain or shine.
