BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A bill that allows most people to keep guns in their vehicles when they're working at their jobs has been endorsed in the North Dakota House.

The measure says most employers can't prevent workers from keeping guns locked in their cars and trucks while they're at work.

Bosses wouldn't be allowed to ask their workers if they have guns in their vehicles. Under the bill's terms, employers couldn't discipline or fire a worker just for having a gun locked in a vehicle on company property.

North Dakota's House voted 82-12 on Monday to approve the bill. It now moves to the state Senate.

The legislation doesn't apply to school or jail property, property that's used for national defense, or the property of a business that's licensed to handle explosives.
