BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says he's asking the Legislature for $31 million in emergency money for flood fighting and snow removal.
The governor said Tuesday the measure includes $22 million in state support for the flood-fighting efforts of local governments.
Another $9 million would be available to help local governments who have spent their snow-removal budgets for the winter.
Senate Republican majority leader Bob Stenehjem of Bismarck says a delayed bill that includes the money will be introduced in the North Dakota Senate.
If the proposal draws two-thirds support in the Legislature, the money will be available for distribution right away.
