Most of Grand Forks' growth is happening on the south end of town. The Metropolitan Planning Organization it trying to stay ahead of that.
Wednesday night, the MPO is holding a public meeting to get your opinion on what they might be doing.
It's the future Choice Wellness Center that is expected to bring a lot more traffic to this growing part of town. And the MPO wants the public's help in making sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
"Traffic control at the site. We will be looking at bike and pedestrian characteristics. Looking at ways at getting into the new site, transit considerations," Mike Anderson with Alliant Engineering said.
Comments will be taken on those kind of things between 40th Avenue South and 47th Avenue South, the area where the new proposed wellness center will go. It's a part of town that is growing with new residential housing, the Aurora Medical Park and many other businesses.
"We are hoping tonight to have the public come out, to give us some opinions or some of their concerns about what they are going to be doing out there, what they would like to see from a transportation standpoint," MPO Senior Planner Nancy Ellis said.
This will be the first of two public meetings. The next is planned for the spring. The MPO hopes to have many of the improvements in place before the Wellness Center opens in 2012.
The public meeting is at the City Council Chambers from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
