FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A $5,000 reward is being offered by the family of Ronald Hammersmith for information that could bring an arrest and conviction in his death 19 months ago.

Police said earlier they had a suspect but not enough evidence to file a criminal charge.

The family's lawyer, William Hartl, told the Forum that Hammersmith's relatives believe someone has important information about the July 2009 case but is keeping quiet.

The 47-year-old Hammersmith was assaulted about 2:30 a.m. as he walked home in Fargo. He died of a head injury.
