A musician in Grand Forks is getting noticed in bigger cities after never giving up on his dreams.
After 20 years of playing smaller venues, he's moving up.
For 39-year-old Rob Morris, otherwise known as Morriscode, a life-long passion for music is becoming a reality.
"I started off, 12 years old, writing my own stuff and wasn't that great," Morris said as he laughed.
Growing up in Grand Forks, the rocker faced some challenges in the music business, but never let that get him down.
"I've worked a lot of jobs I wasn't very happy with to pay the bills." Morris said.
Morris has had local radio stations play his songs and social networks like Myspace and Facebook have helped with exposure as well.
"The main thing for me is always I want people to hear the music. You gain such great friendships through music," Morris said.
Now the singer/songwriter is releasing a cd and getting booked to play at places like the Fine Line Club in Minneapolis. The people who love him are happy he is getting some recognition.
"He was very good at what he does as far as writing the music and so I was just very supportive over the years for him to start getting into it and writing." wife Debra Morris said.
Now Morris has one job, the band, and it's paying off. He gets payed to play around town and booking gigs in Fargo and Minneapolis brings in some extra cash as well.
"It's very difficult most of the time but the rewards when you do play when people compliment you on your songs it's awesome." Morris said.
Morriscode's CD release party is at Big D's in Grand Forks on Wednesday, March 2nd at 8 p.m.
