Today, the UND athletic department and Ralph Engelstad Arena issued a "Fan Code of Conduct," following complaints of obscene cheering and inappropriate fan behavior at hockey games.

A new initiative to control fan behavior at UND hockey games will start this weekend.

The new code of conduct says that abusive language, public intoxication and cheering "against" opponents will not be tolerated.

It also says that videos shown in the arena on the center scoreboard will promote good sportsmanship.

Fans can also report other fans for inappropriate behavior during games- by calling or texting a guest help line.

Fans who do not comply with the code of conduct may get thrown out of the game by Ralph Engelstad Arena staff.

UND surveyed season ticket holders and held a public discussion about fan behavior earlier this month.

UND athletic director Brian Faison says this new code of conduct is a result of those discussions.

The new rules will start with this weekend's hockey games against St. Cloud State.
