Longtime ND State Sen. Theron Strinden Dies

A man who served more than a dozen years in the North Dakota Senate has died. The state Supreme Court says Litchville native Theron Strinden died Thursday in West Fargo at the age of 91.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man who served more than a dozen years in the North Dakota Senate has died.

The state Supreme Court says Litchville native Theron Strinden died Thursday in West Fargo at the age of 91. His funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Litchville. He will be buried in the Litchville Cemetery in the spring.

Strinden served in the state Senate from 1963-66 and from 1969-80. He was president pro tempore in 1979. He also served as motor vehicle registrar under Gov. Allen Olson in the early 1980s. Strinden also was an Army veteran, and a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor in World War II.

Among Strinden's survivors is his brother, Earl Strinden, another former state lawmaker.
