A man who served more than a dozen years in the North Dakota Senate has died.

Litchville native Theron Strinden died Thursday in West Fargo at the age of 91.

Strinden served in the state Senate and the House from 1963 until 66 and from 1969 until 80.

He also served as motor vehicle registrar under Governor Allen Olson in the early 1980s.

Theron's brother Earl Strinden, who also was a state lawmaker, says Theron was always a man of the people.

"People can serve in many different ways and he chose among many ways that he was going to serve as a public servant and serve in the legislature and he enjoyed it very much," said Theron's Brother, Earl Strinden.

Earl says Theron was a strong conservative, and fought him many times in office, even though they were brothers.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
