Latest Product Recalls

The following recalls have been announced:

—Bulk and packaged hazelnut and mixed-nut products containing hazelnuts from DeFranco and Sons of Los Angeles that may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The nut products have been linked to seven illnesses in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, though the company says that so far no E. coli has been found in the nuts. The nuts were distributed nationwide and in Canada from Nov. 2 to Dec. 22, 2010. Details: online at http://tinyurl.com/6zz3wjk.

—Some 8-ounce packages of Golden Dipt Tempura Seafood Batter Mix sold by McCormick & Co. because some packages have a milk ingredient not noted on the packaging, endangering people with milk allergies. A pouch of Cajun Style Fish Fry, which contains a milk ingredient, was accidentally packaged in a Golden Dipt Tempura Seafood Batter mix carton. The recalled packages have UPC Code 4123470132 and are recommended for sale by Oct. 8, 2012. The recalled packages were sent to grocery stores in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin, as well as the Cayman Islands, starting Oct. 21, 2010. —Some cans of Field Day Organic Garbonzo Beans made by Faribault Foods Inc. of Faribault, Minn. Because some cans with this label may contain minestrone soup. The minestrone soup contains wheat, milk, soy or egg allergens and could cause an allergic reaction for some. Consumers with questions can call 888-201-6440 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST.
