The National Weather Service says both Fargo and Grand Forks had record minimum temperatures on Thursday.
The minimum temperature at Fargo was 49 degrees Fahrenheit, breaking the record for the date of 45 degrees, set in 1923.
In Grand Forks, the mercury did not fall below 43 degrees Thursday, breaking the 1944 record of 37 degrees.
Friday's forecast called for high temperatures in the 30s and 40s across North Dakota.
