HILLSBORO, N.D. (AP) - A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper escaped injury when his squad car was hit on Interstate 29 in eastern North Dakota's Traill County.
The patrol says 40-year-old Kyle Stern parked on the median shoulder with his lights flashing Sunday afternoon to direct traffic for a wrecker service after about half a dozen vehicles slid in the ditch.
Authorities say Stern's patrol car was hit in the right rear bumper by a car that spun out of control on the icy interstate. Damage was described as minor. The 18-year-old driver of the car also escaped injury.
Snow and blowing snow led to numerous accidents in the region Sunday.
