Sweetwater Bond Election Tomorrow In Devils Lake

Tomorrow people in the Devils Lake School District will be hitting the polls. They will be voting on whether or not the district should build a 2.5 million dollar addition to Sweetwater Elementary School.

Tomorrow people in the Devils Lake School District will be hitting the polls. They will be voting on whether or not the district should build a 2.5 million dollar addition to Sweetwater Elementary School.

The addition would include a gymnasium, classrooms, and a media center. It would replace a 35-year old portable. The district held a similar bond election back in March...which failed. The addition would've cost 4-million dollars then, but the price has been lowered because of stimulus money.

"I'm caught between a rock and a hard place on that because I own a business. I know the town has to flourish and I know the town has to keep improving," said Rene Ouellette of Devils Lake.

"It's not warm in the winter. The kids have to travel back and forth so I think that the school definitely needs that and probably some extra room for more kids," said Victoria Hoover, also of Devils Lake.

Polls will be open from 8 AM to 7 PM. People living within city limits can vote at the Memorial Building. Those outside of city limits are to vote at the Rural Fire Department.
