FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Devin Coyle scored 26 points on Thursday to lead Mandan to a 67-49 win over Fargo Shanley in the first round of the North Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament.
Coyle, who was coming off a West Region record-setting 38 points in a state-qualifying game, was 6-for-12 from the field on two-point shots and 4-for-8 on 3-point tries for the Braves (16-7). He also had a team-high seven rebounds.
Aaron Janz added 15 points. Mandan was 10-for-18 on 3-point attempts.
A.J. Jacobson was the only Fargo Shanley Deacon (18-5) to reach double figures, finishing with 19 points.
Shanley trailed by just four points at the break but shot just 32 percent in the second half while making one of seven 3-point shots.
