Hockey fans in Thief River Falls have a touch of hockey fever, as the Lincoln High School boys hockey team advances in the state hockey tournament.

They had a big upset win last night, defeating last year's champion Breck 7 to 5. Now the Prowlers are headed to the semifinals on Friday.

That has hockey fans very excited in Thief River Falls. Some of the student fan's had to lose a little sleep to get to the game. The school district has a new policy in place that classes will not be canceled for any state tournament play. So the chartered buses that went down for the game in the Twin Cities had come back after last night's game to bring students back for class Thursday morning.

"It may be a bit of shock that yes we have to be at school, but they knew full well and they accepted it very well. And we have students that are back here today and they are just as excited," Lincoln High School teach Reid Froiland said.

Many students will be traveling down to watch the Prowlers take on St. Thomas Academy in the semifinals Friday afternoon. And students are in luck because there will be no school because of teacher workshops.
