UND MENS HOCKEY: Sioux Beat Michigan Tech 8-0

Matt Frattin and Jason Gregoire had three goals apiece as North Dakota beat Michigan Tech 8-0 in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff on Friday.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Matt Frattin and Jason Gregoire had three goals apiece as North Dakota beat Michigan Tech 8-0 in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff on Friday.

Frattin, the WCHA Player of the Year and scoring champion, extended his scoring streak to 10 games and added an assist. Frattin scored even strength, short-handed and on the power play.

Chay Genoway assisted on four goals for the Sioux, who outshot the Huskies 42-16.

Brett Hextall added a goal and an assist and Brock Nelson had two assists.

Aaron Dell made 16 saves, but just five in the last two periods to get the shutout.

Kevin Genoe made nine saves before being replaced by Josh Robinson, who made 25 saves.

Top-ranked North Dakota (27-8-3), is unbeaten in its last 10 games and has won six straight games.
