WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota officials say Interstate 29 from Watertown to Sisseton remained closed Saturday morning.

Pat Culhane of Codington County Search & Rescue told KELO-TV that strong winds that created blizzard conditions Friday have been letting up, but parts of the interstate are glare ice.

He says crews have been out since Friday night responding to calls of vehicles in the ditch on the interstate as well as on side roads. Three semis were overturned near Summit.

Culhane says some stranded drivers had to wait more than three before help arrived. He says many travelers spent the night at the Salvation Army in Watertown and at the fire hall in Henry.
