Authorities are planning another aerial search for the body of a Cooperstown man who was murdered earlier this year.

54-year-old Kurt Johnson was shot in the forehead and then decapitated.

Authorities say Johnson's head was found in the basement of Daniel Wacht's Cooperstown home. His body has not been found yet. Wacht is charged in that murder.

Sheriff Robert Hook says they've been waiting for the weather to warm up to do another aerial search. One was completed a few weeks ago when it briefly warmed up, but nothing was found.

Johnson was last seen on December 31st at the Oasis Bar in downtown Cooperstown. According to the criminal complaint, someone saw Wacht throw Johnson into the rear cargo area of a van at around 9 p.m.

Sheriff Hook says they will search within the county, which is where they think the van might have gone. Hook says searchers are also looking into leads in Minnesota, but declined to elaborate.
