Grand Forks city leaders were at the Pentagon Wednesday urging Air Force leaders to station new tankers at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

The last tanker left the base in December and city leaders are hoping to get a new tanker mission.

Last month, the Defense Department announced it has awarded the contract to build the KC-46-A tanker.

Senator Kent Conrad is urging the Air Force to station those tankers at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

"Of course commitments have been made to us in the past that Grand Forks would be the first base chosen for significant tanker beddown when the new tanker comes, so it was a very, very productive discussion," Conrad said.

Grand Forks is also getting 10 UAV's from the new Global Hawk 40 series in the coming years.
