BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The sheriff in northwest North Dakota's McKenzie County says an oil well fire that has been burning for nearly two weeks in northwest North Dakota will likely remain aflame for several more days.

Sheriff Ron Rankin says the well's owner and the company fighting the fire told him that the blaze could take a week to 10 days before it is extinguished and brought under control.

The fire at the well eight miles north of Arnegard started March 7. No one was hurt.

Officials say efforts to kill the well have been hampered by weather and muddy conditions at the site.
