ND First Lady Betsy Dalrymple to Visit Grand Forks Next Week

North Dakota's First Lady Betsy Dalrymple is scheduled to visit Century Elementary School in Grand Forks Tuesday.

North Dakota's First Lady Betsy Dalrymple is scheduled to visit Century Elementary School in Grand Forks Tuesday.

Her itinerary begins at 9:30 a.m. at Century Elementary School where she will be welcomed by district administration and the building principal and hear and participate in some of the school district’s model programs on early childhood education and volunteerism. At 9:45 Dalrymple will watch a performance of IMI4U2C (student-created skit that focuses on character education). At 10:15 she will learn about the Gearing Up for Kindergarten program and at 10:30 Dalrymple will read to students in the ELL (English Language Learners) classroom. At 11:15 she will hear a presentation on the RED (Read Every Day) program.

Dalrymple will travel to the Mark Sanford Education Center where lunch will be served from 11:55-12:30, followed by a program that will include presentations from the City of Grand Forks Mayor’s Office about the Grand Forks Youth Commission and YORS (Youth gaining Opportunities Recognition and Skills).

Additional presentations will be given by district officials and students on other model programs including Red River Rider Ropes, Character

Education, student volunteering, Helping Hands, GOTCHA, mentoring, CHS Applied Communication, and Valley Intervention. The program is scheduled to end at 1:30 p.m.
