BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Carrington jumped out to a big halftime lead and never looked back, blitzing Kenmare 62-27 in the semifinals of the North Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament on Friday.

The Cardinals (22-3), ranked sixth in the final state poll, outscored the Honkers 37-11 over the second and third quarters.

Kenmare, the second-ranked team in the state, opened the tournament with a blowout win of previously-unbeaten and top-ranked Beach. But the Honkers found the going much tougher against a stingy Carrington defense. Carrington held Kenmare (25-2) to 22 percent shooting and outrebounded the Honkers 31-17.

Sierra Rosenau had a double double for the Cardinals, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Emily Thompson added 11 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Carrington shot 51 percent from the field, leading 29-11 at the half and 50-20 heading into the fourth quarter.

Katie King had 10 points and six rebounds to lead the Honkers.
