LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska scored the go-ahead runs on a throwing error in the eighth inning and finished a four-game sweep of North Dakota with an 8-6 victory on Sunday.
Michael Pritchard led off the eighth with an infield single and move to second on Bryan Peters' sacrifice bunt. Cody Asche was intentionally walked and Kash Kalkowski was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Kurt Farmer then hit a ground to shortstop for what looked like an inning-ending double play. But Kris Kwak's throw to first was high, allowing Asche and Pritchard to score the tie-breaking runs for the Cornhuskers (14-7).
Farmer homered and drove in three runs while going 3 for 5. Khiry Cooper was 3 for 4 with an RBI on a game-tying double in the seventh.
Casey Hauptman (3-1) came on in the seventh to earn the win. David Spies (0-2) allowed all eight of Nebraska's runs, seven earned, in 7 1/3 innings for the Fighting Sioux (1-14).
