Fans Fill Sports Bars to Watch Sioux in Midwest Semi-finalFans who couldn't make it to the Fighting Sioux hockey game didn't let that stop them from supporting their number one team. Many packed into sports bars.
As the Fighting Sioux battle it out at the Midwest Region Semifinals against Troy, New York's RPI in Green Bay, Wisconsin, one life-long Sioux fan says it's their year.
"Eight years in a row in the playoffs, you got to root for them every year but this year looks like, I don't want to jinx it, but it looks like it could be the year," said life-long Sioux fan Nick Swingen.
Throughout Jake's Bar and Grill, the first period was a nail biter.
"It's a little nerve-wracking, but it's nice that they got that first goal because they tend to do better when they take the lead early," said Sioux fan Katie McGurk.
With an early hope of winning, there are some likes and dislikes about how the Sioux are playing.
"It's a quicker team than I can remember in the past few years and just way more cohesive," said Swingen.
For those fans not in Green Bay, there is a close second.
"If you can't be at the game, being somewhere where there are other fans around is always a close second," said McGurk.
But for these Sioux fans, there is now doubt who is going all the way to the Final Four.
"I would say go Sioux!" said Swingen.
"The Sioux of course!" said McGurk.
"Of course the Sioux!" said Stowe.
