A truck driver was injured Monday in Grand Forks as his truck tipped over, spilling a load of potatoes.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Sheridan Matthews, 39, of Palisade, NE, was turning left from 32nd Avenue S. at 10:48 a.m. onto the northbound I-29 entrance ramp. Matthews said he felt the truck, a 2002 International truck with trailer, begin to tip, but that he didn't have time to react.

The truck tipped onto its right side on the east shoulder of the entrance ramp. The top of the trailer broke off, spilling potatoes into the east ditch.

The Patrol says Matthews was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. He was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for examination.

The truck is owned by Altendorf Harvesting.

The crash is under investigation.
