Red River Hits Flood Stage in Fargo

The Red River rose to flood levels in the Fargo-Moorhead area Tuesday afternoon.

FARGO – The Red River rose to flood levels in the Fargo-Moorhead area Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, N.D., the river in Fargo was at 17.98 feet at 2:15 p.m. Flood stage is 18 feet.

At 19 feet, the low level dam south of Main Avenue goes under water.

Upstream, in Wahpeton, the river was hovering around the 10-foot flood stage this afternoon. The river dipped to 9.81 feet after reaching 9.9 feet Monday night.

Downstream, the river remains well under flood stage of 28 feet in Grand Forks. There, the Red River was at 26.90 feet at 4:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
