Grafton Seeing Lower Flood Levels

Some good news in the flood fight this year for people in the Grafton area.

The Park River is now expected to reach 14.1 feet.

Earlier, it was projected to hit 14.7 feet, which would be major flood stage.

Mayor Chris West says it's because of a lack of moisture in the area.

But lower flood levels could also mean less help from the Army Corps of Engineers.

"If they choose not to participate then we would be required to do the work ourselves. Put up the levy systems or do a sandbag and the cost would come back to the city," said West.

West says even an inch of rain could change the numbers dramatically.
