The city of Grand Forks will be using a new anti-icing applicator that can spray up to three lanes of road at one time. And Street Superintendent Mark Aubol says for the first time the city will be using a mixture of Calcium Chloride on the streets. This is a salt which melts ice at temperatures as cold as ten below. Calcium Chloride is used by many towns for melting ice, and it has been proven it is relatively harmless to plants and soil.
