Four teens were injured in a one-vehicle accident north of Larimore, ND, and just south of Highway 2 around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 17-year-old girl was the driver and didn't sustain any injuries. The other occupants of the vehicle, ranging in age from twelve to seventeen were injured. Three had non-life threatening injuries and one, a 12-year-old, was in critical condition as of Wednesday. The Grand Forks Herald reports that the 12-year-old was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
The Patrol says the driver of the 1996 Pontiac Bonneville was leaving the Hoverson Farms parking lot just off of Highway 2. She was going south on ND Highway 18 back to Larimore when she said that she lost control of the vehicle due to a mechanical problem. The car then continued east on Highway 18 into a ditch and then struck a tree on the embankment of the east ditch.
Altru Ambulance, Larimore Ambulance and Fire, Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department, and the Highway Patrol all responded to the accident.
Investigation of the accident continues.
