DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A staffer for Republican Tim Pawlenty's presidential exploratory committee has been arrested for public intoxication and trespassing at an Iowa home.
Eric Woolson, a consultant for the former Minnesota governor, says 24-year-old Ben Foster was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police were called after Foster was reported to be banging on the door of a home in the Des Moines suburb of Ankeny.
Police say Foster was looking for a friend's home where he'd been staying.
Foster was taken to the Polk County jail and later released on $600 bond.
Woolson says Pawlenty expressed disappointment in the incident and that Foster has been placed on a two-week unpaid suspension.
Foster, 2009 University of Alabama graduate, issued a statement apologizing for his actions and acknowledging he made a very serious mistake.
