Crookston Jewelry Store Owner says Burglary 'Sickening'

The brazen burglars broke two holes through a brick wall to get into Munn's Jewelry in Crookston sometime before 9 a.m. Friday, getting away with some prized jewelry.

"Feels like somebody kicked you in the stomach, I feel violated. It's the most sickening thing you could imagine," said owner Ivan Fisher.

The Crookston Police Department says over $100,000 worth was stolen.

"We still had some product to put out. Fortunately, there was no customer merchandise taken," said Fisher.

Store owners said the first thing the burglars did was force their way through the door of the Four Seasons Clothing Store and made their way through the wall and into Munn's Jewelry Store.

"It was very elaborate, whoever did this knew what they were doing. They have obviously cased the stores and knew where things were and it's an elaborate way of gaining entrance into a place," said Crookston Police Chief Tim Motherway.

The burglars took gold chains, engagement rings and diamond necklaces. For Fisher, it is going to be a learning experience.

"Everything in gold and fine merchandise is going into the safe overnight. We're not going to leave anything out. It takes a little extra work putting it in and back, but it's better than losing it," said Fisher.

Fisher says nothing like this has happened in his 40 years of business.

The burglar also took merchandise from the Four Seasons Clothing Store.

If you have any information, you're asked to call police.
