East Grand Forks city officials Tuesday closed the Louis Murray bridge at 10:30 a.m.

The bridge connects the North End and Point areas of the city. Residents will have to use the Mallory Bridge off of U.S. Highway 2 at County Road 58 and Highway 220 South.

The Sorlie and Point bridges were closed earlier. The Kennedy Bridge, the last link between the cities still open, will be protected up to about 54 ft. with emergency levees built on the East Grand Forks approaches.

The National Weather Service projects a rise to 52 ft. by sometime Thursday.

The new Thompson Bridge is expected to remain open, so commuters could use that as a route. It's protected to approximately 67.8 ft. As of 1:15 p.m. Tuesday the level there is at 64.28 ft.

As in previous flooding years, traffic is likely to be congested, so motorists should plan accordingly.
