BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Gov. Jack Dalrymple has asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to start tallying spring flood damage in North Dakota.

State, local and tribal officials have conducted initial damage assessments in 40 counties and three reservations. Dalrymple wants FEMA to send a team to begin verifying damage.

To be eligible for federal cost-sharing assistance, the state must show that the cost of flood prevention measures and flood damages will total $1 million. Dalrymple says that mark will be far exceeded.
