The Sorlie Bridge on Demers Avenue was reopened today at 4 p.m. The bridge was two of three bridges closed that link Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.

The Minnesota and North Dakota departments of transportation completed the joint inspection and debris removal on the bridge.

Portions of the bridge remain submerged, so MNDOT and NDDOT will monitor the bridge daily through the weekend. If any major debris poses a safety concern, the bridge may be closed temporarily.

The city of Grand Forks had previously said the bridge would remain closed until the weekend because of the higher water level by the bridge.

No word yet on when the Point Bridge on Minnesota Avenue will reopen. The Point is the last bridge remaining closed in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Water is still on the approaches to the bridge.
