DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Five Dickinson State University students displaced by bedbugs are expected to return to their dorm rooms this weekend.

The Dickinson Press reports that bedbugs were found in one room in early April. University spokeswoman Constance Walter says students in adjoining rooms also were moved out as a precaution.

She says officials conducted checks of all rooms and no other bedbugs were found. DSU now plans to check for bedbugs as part of monthly health and safety checks.

Bedbugs have turned up everywhere from swanky hotels to homeless shelters around the country. Research has shown that the pesky insects are developing a resistance to pesticides.
