BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota National Guard said it is switching its flood response in the state to regional teams in a cost-cutting move as flood threats become more localized.
The Guard said it has been operating with a major task force in Bismarck and another in Fargo. Effective Friday evening, the Guard said it would switch to six Regional Response Platforms. Each will support flood operations in a local multi-county area.
Lt. Col. Brent Naslund said as requests for Guard assistance decrease, the regional teams can offer a local response while reducing overhead costs to the state.
