A man is dead after being run over by a gravel truck near Crookston.
The accident happened at the Enbridge jobsite on Highway 75 in rural Crookston about 8:30 this morning, when a man got out of his gravel truck to find a supervisor.
Investigator Nathan Rasch/ Polk County. "We got the call about 8:33 this morning. Paramedics arrived, Minnesota State Patrol, Crookston Fire and Rescue."
Two gravel trucks were at the site when the accident happened. One man got out of his truck to find out where to dump the gravel when he walked behind the other truck and the driver didn't see him.
Investigator Nathan Rasch/ Polk County. "He was maneuvering his semi that was still connected to that trailer to dump more gravel, so he was backing up trying to get in position."
One person at the site saw the man fall before being hit but investigators are unsure at this point as to what could have caused the fall- whether he tripped or had a medical issue. The ground at the site is extremely wet and uneven, which is why the gravel was brought there.
Investigator Nathan Rasch/ Polk County. "It's really wet there and I would assume that's probably why they needed to the gravel to dry it out a little bit."
The man died at the scene and an autopsy will be done.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the details of the accident and will release the name of the victim tomorrow.
