DL Students On Hand As Governor Signs Anti-bullying Bill

The students were asked to attend the signing ceremony because of their involvement with state House and Senate committees, whose members heard testimony on the bill.

Students from Central Middle School in Devils Lake were on hand Wednesday in Bismarck as Governor Jack Dalrymple signed an anti-bullying bill into law.

The students were asked to attend the signing ceremony because of their involvement with state House and Senate committees, whose members heard testimony on the bill.

Students who testified about bullying say to see the bill signed by the governor gives them a feeling of accomplishment.

"It's nice to know that somebody is finally deciding to do something about all the bullying that's going on," Central Middle School 8th grader Neil Haahr said.

The law states that procedures must be established for reporting and documenting alleged acts of bullying, along with timelines for the school district.
