An historic Grand Forks drive-in is one step closer to being added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The North Dakota Register of Historic Places Review Board decided Friday to approve the nomination of the Keg's Drive-In. The motion now moves on to the National Park Service in Washington, DC, where it may be given final approval.

The restaurant was one of three properties getting consideration for the register Friday.

Known for its sloppy joes and onion rings, the restaurant at 901 N. 5th street has been around since the 1930s.

The register is the federal government's list of properties it considers worthy of recognition and preservation.
