A disaster training exercise is planned to be conducted at the Grand Forks International Airport this Wednesday, May 4.

The exercise will start at 2 p.m. and will be held at the airport training area on the west side of the airport along County Road 5.

A Boeing 727 will be used in the exercise. Dozens of emergency vehicles will be used as well, from local and regional law enforcement, fire departments, Altru Hospital, the Red Cross and Salvation Army.

The airport is looking for volunteers to help with the drill. Anyone interested should report to the parking lot just south of the new terminal, north of the FedEx building by 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The exercise is required every three years by the FAA. It's expected to last about two hours.
